KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) - A defense request to prohibit statements an accused killer made to police has been rejected in Kenosha County Circuit Court.
The attorney for Steven Bringsosen asked a Kenosha County judge Friday not to allow Bringsosen's statements because the suspect hadn't been informed of his constitutional rights.
The 28-year-old Bristol man is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of his infant nephew, Korbin Belott, in April 2007. Bringsosen told police he tripped and fell on the baby when he was caring for him.
Judge Mary Wagner says Bringsosen wasn't in custody or arrested at the time he made the statements.
