GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - The destructive emerald ash borer has been found in another Wisconsin county.
The state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says an adult beetle was found in a survey trap on an ash tree along the Fox River, about a mile from the bay of Green Bay.
The beetle was confirmed as an emerald ash borer at a lab in Michigan. The tree-killing beetle was first found in Newburg, on the Ozaukee-Washington county line last summer. It's also been found in Vernon and Crawford counties.
Federal regulators are considering quarantining firewood, ash nursery stock, ash timber and tree trimmings in Brown County to try to stop the beetle from spreading.
