EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say no one was hurt in a fire that damaged a group home for the mentally disabled in Evansdale, near Waterloo.
The fire at Exceptional Persons Inc. broke out Wednesday afternoon. Executive Director Chris Sparks says no one was home at the time - the ten residents and one staff member were away at jobs or programs. They've been moved to other facilities.
Sparks says the fire started in the kitchen. The cause is under investigation.
