Associated Press - August 14, 2009 1:54 PM ET

COLUMBUS, Neb. (AP) - The Fremont Tribune publisher has added the Columbus Telegram to his list of duties.

Bill Vobejda (voh-BAY-duh) is becoming a regional publisher for Lee Enterprises, watching over the Lee dailies in Fremont and Columbus and Lee's community papers in Schuyler and David City.

His appointment was announced Friday by John Maher, who is publisher of the Lincoln Journal Star and manager of Nebraska operations for Lee, which is based in Davenport, Iowa.

Vobejda is taking over for Bob Blackman, who announced his resignation earlier this week after more than five years as the Telegram's publisher.

Before joining the Tribune, Vobejda was marketing director for the Journal Star.

He holds bachelor's and master's from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
