JEFFERSON, Wis. (AP) - A Lake Mills father is accused of throwing his infant son against a wall and causing his death.
Thirty-year-old Michael Wey is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of 4-month-old Nikolai Andrew Wey, who was taken off life support at Children's Hospital in Madison Aug. 21. A Milwaukee County medical examiner determined the baby died of a skull fracture and other head injuries.
Wey was initially charged with physical child abuse after the child suffered the injuries Aug. 14. Prosecutors say Wey threw his son so hard he left cracks in the wall.
A criminal complaint was amended Wednesday, charging Wey with homicide. A conviction carries a maximum penalty of 60 years in prison. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail on $50,000 cash bond.
