La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - A teenage girl is dead after falling from Grandad Bluff, it appears to be accidental.

It happened around 6pm Wednesday night.

Police say the girl and a boy, both under the age of 18, were walking around the top of Grandad Bluff when they decided to go past the safety fence that lines the top edge.

The two got separated and the boy called police when he lost sight of her.

Her body was found on a rocky hillside on the bluff.

Grandad Bluff is about 600 feet high. Sadly, accidents like this are not uncommon.

The last fatality happened almost exactly two years ago when 19 year old Kimberly Coppens of Holmen accidentally fell to her death after going outside the safety fence.
