LA CRESCENT, Minnesota (WXOW) A staff member at La Crescent high school has a confirmed case of H1N1.
School district nurses say they are working closely with the Minnesota Department of Health and Center for Disease Control to monitor the guidelines and make decisions about the best steps to take to prevent the spread of H1N1.
School officials also say they are monitoring student attendance on a daily basis and have not seen an unusual number of absentees.
Here's some information on how to prevent the spread of H1N1.
Encourage your child to practice good hygiene.
That includes frequent hand washing, covering their coughs and sneezes with their sleeve or tissue.
Do a daily health-check on your child before sending them to school.
Do they have a high fever, cough, sore throat, or other H1N1 symptom? Then, don't send them to school.
Vaccinate your child.
The Minnesota Department of Health recommends vaccinating all children against the seasonal flu as well as the H1N1 type when the vaccine becomes available.
