La Crosse, WI (WXOW) Labor leaders gathered in La Crosse today... urging action on a health care reform bill including a public option. They want a final bill controlling costs and expanding access. Critics argue a public option will result in just the opposite, but Wisconsin AFL-CIO president David Newby says, "forty five million people lack insurance. That's why the medicare type public option is so important, because it will provide effective competition." The House vote on health care reform could happen as soon as November 6. The Senate could take up the bill next month.
