LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A busy night for La Crosse Police as they have three serious crimes in a short amount of time.
The first happened just before 8pm on South 19th St. A man walked into the Beadshoppe and demanded cash. The man told the clerk he had a gun, but didn't show it.
When the clerk had problems with the cash register, the robber took the whole register and left.
He's described as a white male, 25 to 32 years old, about 5 foot 11 inches tall with a slender build.
The second crime happened about four hours later when two men wearing ski masks tried to rob Ike's Jabber Jaws on Avon Street. One of the men showed a gun, ordered customers on the floor, then demanded cash from the bartender.
The men left after the bartender didn't do anything because he thought it was a joke. The men returned a few moments later-this time the bartender refused to hand over any money-and the men left again.
The first suspect is a black male between 18 and 25-years old 5 feet 8 inches tall weighing 120 to 140 pounds. The second suspect is a between 18 to 25 years old with a slim build and around 5 feet 6 inches tall.
The third crime involves bomb threats. About ten minutes before the attempted tavern robbery, someone told police there were bombs in two downtown bars. Police and fire searched the Arena Sports Bar and Brothers Bar, but found nothing.
Lt. Bob Berendt of the La Crosse Police Department says all three crimes appear to be a coincidence. "None of them appear to be related so its really unknown why one evening in basically five hours we have three at once."
If you have information on any of these crimes, you are asked to call La Crosse Police or Crimestoppers at 784-TIPS or 1-800-947-3577.
