CHICAGO (WXOW) - The Village of Gays Mills gets more than $700,000 to help with moving out of their flood prone town.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency gave $733,205 in grants to buy and remove 10 structures and raise one more damaged frequently by flooding.
The State of Wisconsin and Village of Gays Mills will contribute the remaining 25% of the $977,606 project.
Once the homes are removed from the flood plain, the project will leave the vacated area as open space in perpetuity.
