LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN (WXOW)- The Mississippi Valley Conservancy works to protect land in the Coulee Region.

Since 1997, they've helped conserve more than 11,000 acres of lands which consist of prairies, bluffs and wetlands

The Mississippi Valley conservancy has expanded their staff.

They hired an outreach coordinator to help increase the amount of activities offered to the public.

In 2009, they had about 100 events which include guided hikes and other activities to help connect people with nature.

This spring they're looking to hire a full-time land manager to focus on ecological restoration and improving the accessibility of the properties owned by the Mississippi Valley Conservancy.

The Mississippi Valley Conservancy is holding several events to help get people back out in nature.
