Daybreak Meteorologist

Alex Kirchner

Posted:
Alex Kirchner joined the News 19 Forecast Team in August 2010 as the Weekend Meteorologist, then moved to mornings as the Daybreak Meteorologist in January 2012.  He has some experience with getting up in the middle of the night to go to work, as Alex was the Morning and Noon Meteorologist for KCWY in Casper, Wyoming between 2008 and 2010 prior to moving to La Crosse.

Being in La Crosse is a homecoming of sorts for Alex.  He was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, and spent many hours captivated by the frequent summer thunderstorms and winter snow storms.  Following his passion for weather, Alex enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, obtaining his Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences degree in 2008.

In his free time, Alex loves to run, recently completing his first marathon at the Twin Cities Marathon, and plans to run many more races around the area.  He also enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and is a die-hard Badger and Packer fan.

Feel free to contact Alex at akirchner@wxow.com.  He'd love to hear from you!
