SUN PRAIRIE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Wisconsin's favorite groundhog prognosticator has some welcome news for blizzard-weary residents.
Jimmy the Groundhog and his handler Jerry Hahn headed outside at dawn Wednesday at the Hahns' apple farm near Sun Prairie. Hahn says Jimmy did not see his shadow, which means spring is around the corner.
Hahn says Jimmy also made another prediction, which might rile his groundhog buddy, Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania. Jimmy predicted a Super Bowl victory for the Green Bay Packers over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Punxsutawney Phil also predicted an early spring during Groundhog Day festivities in Pennsylvania. But Phil stayed away from making a Super Bowl pick.
The Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce canceled its annual Groundhog Day ceremony at Cannery Square because of the blizzard.
