A public hearing about the possible changes to ambulance service around La Crosse was held Wednesday evening on the U-W La Crosse campus.
The meeting allowed the public to ask questions and to make comments.
The vast majority of people that spoke out during the meeting were against the city's proposal.
Some people said that the plan would not be cost effective, and would hurt tax payers. Opponents said they are content with the with Tri-State's service. Members of the public shared personal stories about how Tri-State saved their lives. But city officals maintain starting its own ambulance service would improve the quality of care. Wednesday's meeting was the first of several informational sessions planned on the topic.
