New Auburn (WQOW) - The death of a four-month-old is being investigated in Chippewa County.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says the infant was found unresponsive around 7:00 a.m. Friday at 322 S. East St. in New Auburn. An autopsy will now be done to help determine the cause of death.
News 18 spoke to the man who owns the home where the baby died. He says he's engaged to the baby's mother. He said the infant's name was Nathaniel. The man said when he went to wake up Nathaniel Friday morning, the baby was lying on his stomach and was unresponsive. He told News 18 the coroner determined the infant could have passed away five hours earlier.
The man says Nathaniel has a twin who is with his mother in Chippewa Falls and is fine. News 18 expects to learn more from the sheriff's office once investigators receive results from the autopsy.
