LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- After a huge economic downfall for Wisconsin in 2009, the new year means new goals for 2010.
2010 is Governor Doyle's last year in office, and he will have a Democratic-controlled Assembly to work with.
State Representative Mike Huebsch says the budget passed in 2009 put too many restrictions and regulations on businesses.
He hopes by lifting some of those regulations and creating incentives, businesses will stick around and continue to grow.
"We are in such an unusual economic time," says Rep. Huebsch, (R) West Salem. "I think that there seems to be cautious optimism, that people are willing to get their companies growing and expanding again, but there just seems to be a great deal of uncertainty as to what role government's going to play in a lot of businesses."
Another factor for 2010 is the upcoming election in November that affects lawmakers in their second year.
