Memorial Day Will Be Steamy!

Today's Forecast

Today's Forecast Image
  • 97°
  • 67°

Temperatures across the area were scorching! All of us topping out at or above 90°. Black River Falls neared the 100° mark and La Crosse is currently tied for the 144 year old record high temperature of 96° (as of 2:30pm). Overnight, skies remain mostly clear and conditions will be warm and muggy. Lows will bottom out in the upper 60s and low 70s with calm winds. The only relief for tonight will be cranking that A/C.

Memorial Day itself will feature more heat and humidity. High pressure to our south will continue to throw lower to middle 90s our way for Monday afternoon under lots of sunshine. Dew point temperatures will be steamy and soupy in the middle to upper 60s. The humidity combined with the heat in place will mean heat indices at or above 100°. Make sure to take breaks in between being outdoors, hydrate, and stay cool.

Again, no relief in sight overnight on Monday. Partly cloudy skies and quiet conditions will give way to lows in the upper 60s and low 70s. The air conditioner will be flexing its muscles once again!

Moving forward, 90s hang tough through Tuesday with a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon and evening. The more potent threat for showers and storms comes to cool off the area by Wednesday. Tonight at 10pm, find out about our slow decline through the 80s this week and if we officially broke the record high in La Crosse today! Stay cool and enjoy the rest of your Memorial Day weekend! Thank you to all who serve and have served our country. -Stormtracker 19 Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko
