Colder and windy today...

Today's Forecast

Hold onto your hat! It's going to be windy today! Winds will be sustained from the NW from 15 to 30mph with wind gusts possible over 40mph. Use caution on the roads today, especially when traveling in some of the more open, wind-prone areas in Iowa and Minnesota.

The strong winds today are the result of a cold front that will be drifting to the SE today. Behind that front much colder air is spilling into the region and will lead to a big drop in temperature. In fact, in temperatures will be holding steady if not falling through the day in most locations. Factoring in the gusty winds, this afternoon will feel like it's in the teens and low 20s. Otherwise partly cloudy skies this morning will give way to more sunshine in the afternoon.

Winds will relax tonight as high pressure approaches from the Great Plains. Overnight lows will be dropping into the teens with sunshine for Wednesday morning. Although highs on Wednesday afternoon will be similar to what we're expecting today, (rising into the low to mid 30s,) the reduced wind speeds will likely make it feel a little warmer.

Besides the increased traffic flow, travel around the Coulee Region on Thanksgiving should be pretty easy with dry roads and plenty of sunshine. For more details on the holiday forecast tune into News 19 from 4:30-7am, and at 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm.
