AIR QUALITY ALERTS are in effect until noon on Sunday for our communities in southeast Minnesota. This includes the counties of Houston, Fillmore, Wabasha, and Winona. An air quality alert is in place due to Canadian wildfire smoke that is shipping south through Minnesota today. It is possible that Wisconsin communities will also feel a little more stuffy with the presence of some smoke. It is important that sensitive groups such as the elderly and those with respiratory problems limit time outdoors.
Sunday will feature early morning fog burning off by 10am. If you have a church service to get to, make sure to carve out an extra couple of minutes in case visibility is reduced. Highs on Sunday will top out in the middle 80s under mostly sunny skies. South winds at 5-9 mph will bring in cleaner air for most on Sunday, as well. Overnight, lows remain muggy in the 60s with increasing clouds. Those clouds may squeeze out a shower or two, especially toward daybreak. This is all ahead of our next, possibly, big rain maker.
There is some much needed, widespread rain in the forecast for Monday. I'll see you Sunday at 10pm with details on what to expect and when! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! -Stormtracker 19 Meteorologist Alex Wasilenko
