"The reality store" at Central High School

La Crosse, WI (WXOW)- On Tuesday Logan High School senior Lisa Chang became a divorced mom with 2 kids.

"I have to pay child support. I noticed I don't make that much in my job. I just bought a car insurance and I ended up with 300 dollars left so I am pretty broke," said Chang.

"The Reality Store" held in Central High's school gymnasium gave students a glimpse into the future.

Juniors and seniors faced financial obligations associated with adult life.

Several area businesses set up booths to assist students in making choices about housing transportation, insurance and other living expenses.

Unexpected events challenged students even further like a visit to the "fate booth."

It is the booth where you don't know what obstacle you'll face.

" I got 100 dollars for finding a puppy, but other kids got fined 200 dollars for an accident so you're just faced with random events," said Jake Goodman, Central High Senior.

Students say this "reality check" shows them how to manage money, budget, and save for the future.

Because when you enter the so called "real world" you never know when you might hit a bump in the road.
