New infant and children's store in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- For Jordan Brudos, opening a baby and children's store with her husband Mark just felt right.

"I'm a labor and delivery nurse, so babies are kind of my thing," Jordan says.  "Two years ago, we moved to La Crosse, and there was kind of this hole. We couldn't find the products that we liked, cloth diapers that we needed. We had to look online for everything so we decided we might as well open a store."

The Brudos' business Cutie Patootie opened late October.  As part of the grand opening Saturday.  Twenty percent of its sales went to Family Resources of La Crosse.  Family Resources helped at the grand opening with arts and crafts for kids.

"What it'll do for us is just add to our budget in helping us continue offer to parents in the Coulee region," Fran Swift of Family Resources says.

Jordan participated in Family Resources when she first came to La Crosse.  Fran says Cutie Patootie, as more than a store, shares common interests in educating parents.

"It's nice to have kind of a one stop shopping where people can gather information too. Hopefully, Family Resources can be the ones to provide that information," Fran says.

"It's been something that I've been thinking up for a few years, so to actually be a reality now is really cool," Jordan says.

Jordan and Mark say there were bumps in the road, but they're happy to be new business owners.
