Host Dave Carlson brings unique stories about the people, places and issues of our great outdoors. His goal is to bring you the real stars of the show, the people from around the Midwest and Great Plains that are making an impact on our natural resources and share their wisdom with you. Each year he and Dave Roll travel thousands of miles to find the true Northland Adventures.
Dave Carlson, of Eau Claire, Wis., has more than 50 years of outdoors experiences, from fishing and hunting to biking and camping in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Central America. His journalism career in TV spans more than 30 years, added to 10 years in newspapers. He's written two books and hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles. He and his wife, Sue, an RN, have two daughters and a Springer spaniel, Ellie. He is a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire graduate and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969-1971.
Dave Roll is a long time friend of Dave Carlson and began doing videography for Northland Adventures in December 2005. Dave is a lifetime resident of Eau Claire and a graduate of UW-Eau Claire with a bachelor's in music. Because of his musical background, Dave can produce special video projects that include custom music and sound design. Dave's dad started teaching him about camping, hunting and fishing at a young age and that love of the outdoors continues to present day. Combining a personal appreciation for the outdoors with professional interests in videography, writing and story-telling creates a perfect match. Being able to accurately capture and convey the stories and passion for the outdoors of the show's guests is a welcome challenge.
