LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - For the first time since his elevation to the College of Cardinals, former La Crosse Bishop Raymond Burke returns to celebrate mass at St. Joseph's Cathedral.
The Stratford, Wis. native served as Bishop of the La Crosse Diocese from 1995 to 2003. Burke was appointed Cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI last month along with 23 others.
About a thousand people attended Thursday's mass, during which the new Cardinal thanked those who inspired and helped him throughout his journey to The Vatican.
