LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The four people accused of hiding a corpse on La Crosse's South Side appeared in court Friday.
They were scheduled to make adjourned initial appearances before Judge Dale Pasell, but those have been bumped back to Thursday, September 1st since the La Crosse Public Defender's Office has not been able to find counsel for one of the defendants.
Cain Moss, his father Robert Moss, Christina Lorenz and Patrick Valiquette are accused of collaborating to hide a dead body in Red Cloud Park on August 2nd.
All four have said they will go with public defenders for representation, but a lawyer for Robert Moss has not been found yet.
La Crosse Public Defender Vincent Rust, who appeared in court of behalf of Lorenz Friday, said that his office cannot represent multiple defendants in the same case due to possible conflicts of interest – so it's had to begin looking outside the Coulee Region for lawyers.
