Updated: Feb 6, 2012 04:28 PM CST

Pete Zervakis joined News 19 as a Multimedia Journalist in July of 2011. Prior to making the move to La Crosse, he interned at WLS-TV, the ABC owned and operated station in Chicago, Ill., as well as at WCBS-TV in New York City and WCIA-TV in Champaign, Ill.

Pete was then promoted to Weekend Anchor in January, 2012.

He can be seen at the desk Saturday's at 6pm and 10pm and Sundays at 10pm.

Pete graduated with Highest, Campus-Wide Honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism in May, 2011. As a student, he worked as a reporter and anchor at the university's cable television station, UI-7 News.

While in Champaign, Pete also reported for both the sports and features desks at The Daily Illini, an independent, student-run newspaper at the University of Illinois. He covered the Illinois varsity baseball and football teams, and also served as the paper's first ever health & wellness columnist.

Outside of the newsroom, Pete enjoys working out, running and swimming. He is also an avid reader of history books, particularly Greek History books, and is enthralled by Alexander the Great.

Pete can always be found cheering on his Illini on the football field during Saturday games and, as a former soccer player, is a huge fan of English Premier League teams Aston Villa and Chelsea FC.
