LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW)--It was a chance to sample some spicy good food and help out some local community organizations in the process.
The 20th annual Chili Cook-off, was Saturday in the State Bank Financial parking lot in downtown La Crosse.
Hundreds of people paid five dollars each to taste test more than 30 different kinds of chili. Prize giveaways and a chili pepper eating contest were also part of the event.
The fundraiser this year helps the D.A.R.E./G.R.E.A.T. programs as well as Habitat for Humanity.
While getting money for those programs, the organizations, including WXOW, also enjoyed a little competition on who had the best chili at the Cook-off.
This year's winner of the traveling trophy for their chili recipe was the People's Food Co-op.
In the media division, the winner was 95.7 The Rock.
Dahl Ford, Onalaska Police Department, Onalaska School District, and Three Rivers Waldorf School were also among the winners at the Cook-off.
WXOW also was one of the participants in the Cook-off, with a version of "HD Chili".
