LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) –Jill Billings (D) and David Drewes (R) are set as the official candidates for La Crosse's 9595th Assembly Seat.
They'll square off in the general election November 8.
"I have experience with good government," Billings said. "I've been on the La Crosse County Board for eight years, we've kept our fiscal house in order during those eight years and we've had a balanced budget during that time."
"Our bond rate is excellent and we've kept La Crosse as the fifth lowest taxing county of 72," she added.
Meanwhile, Drewes said his background in sales, working in the private sector, and his conservative fiscal mindset make him the ideal candidate for the post.
"You've got to relate to what is important to the tax payers," Drewes said. "We have to know what businesses are facing today and, with all the current Democratic regulations, businesses can't operate with stability."
"People are afraid of getting taxed out of their homes."
