PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The Mississippi Valley Conservancy is using a grant to help improve one of their properties for public use.
The Crawford County Community Fund grant money is slated for use to help complete the donated McDowell family property. Plans call for signage, creation of trails, and publicity of the property for public use as part of the effort.
The property is located near De Soto.
The Mississippi Valley Conservancy helps preserve bluffland, prairies, and wetlands in southwestern Wisconsin. They've helped set aside more than 13,000 acres of land since the organization was created in 1997.
