NEAR WITOKA, Minn. (WXOW) -- A Winona man is dead after a crash near Witoka Monday evening.
Richard Bellman, 53, was killed when the car he was a passenger in went off County Road 9 and hit a tree.
Another passenger, 24-year-old Blake Berse of Minnesota City,was taken to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse with head injuries.
The sheriff's office says the driver, 23-year-old Marissa Northrup of Winona,was going down an icy gravel road when she lost control of the vehicle and over-corrected.
The car first went into a ditch before hitting a tree.
Northrup was not injured.
According to the sheriff's office, neither Bellman nor Berse were wearing a seatbelt.
