Holmen Native is New Miss Wisconsin

Holmen, WI (WXOW)-- At last night's Miss Seven Rivers Pageant, Raeanna Johnson, the former Miss Seven Rivers, announced she will be taking over the duties of Miss Wisconsin.

Johnson was first runner-up at the Miss Wisconsin pageant, and will take over for winner Laura Kaeppeler, who was just crowned Miss America.

Johnson was living in Texas but has moved back to Holmen to accept her new title. She'll receive the full $10,000 scholarship and the Miss Wisconsin car.

However Johnson says the real reason she decided to accept the crown, was the opportunity to be an ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network hospitals. She also plans to do more with the non-profit she started, Empowering Women Inc.

"The organization raises scholarships for women in the La Crosse area. So if I could expand the program and be able to increase the scholarship dollars and the number of scholarships we can give away each year, that would be a really fantastic thing," Johnson said.

Johnson will hold the crown until June, at which time she is eligible to compete for the title of Miss Wisconsin again. But she says right now she's just focused on her new duties and representing Wisconsin.
