Bangor Post Office Closed Indefinitely: Residents Concerned

Posted:

BANGOR,WI(WXOW)--Bangor community members hope to voice concerns and get questions answered about the indefinitely closed post office.

At 6:30, on January 25th, an informational meeting will be held at the high school. The Bangor Post Office closed 13 days ago due to water damage in the roof and the presence of mold.

Convenience and cost are two major concerns for Bangor residents. The Bangor building has been cleaned out and all operations have indefinitely moved to the West Salem Post Office. That building is 7.1 miles away.

Resident and business owner--Amanda Hundt said not only is it out of the way, she estimates driving there will cost about 30 dollars a week, and more than one thousand dollars over the course of a year.

Hundt plans on attending the meeting this evening in hopes of having her questions answered.

"I would hope to hear that they're at least they're still trying to make a decision. That they haven't made their minds up that we absolutely are the first of many who are going to get cut because it's convenient for them to close down our post office because the building had a malfunction," said Hundt.

Hundt said the blue drop box was re-located and placed in the local grocery store parking lot.

Representatives from the U.S. Postal Service will be at the informational meeting to answer questions.
