UPDATE: Court appearance on pot charges for St. Charles men

Stephen Conlin Stephen Conlin

ST. CHARLES, Minn. (KTTC) -- Two men from St. Charles have been arraigned on drug charges after a Southeast Minnesota Task Force raid Wednesday afternoon, and one of them is a familiar name.

Stephen Conlin and Ted Wilkemeyer were arraigned Thursday morning in Winona County District Court on charges of possessing a controlled substance with intent to sell, and obstructing the legal process with force.

They were taken into custody at Conlin's new barber shop business location "The Buzz" at 943 Wabasha Avenue.  Officers with the task force broke the glass on the front door in the raid, and say they seized bags of processed marijuana and five marijuana plants, along with $600.

Winona Co. Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude says there was an unusual label on one of the bags:  "Minnesota's First Lawful Marijuana Mercantile:  Stephen Conlin's the BUZZ B 'High Grade' quality certified by the S.E.M.N.G.T.F.  For adult use only (18+) B."

Ganrude said as of early afternoon Thursday, neither Conlin or Wilkemeyer had posted bail set by the judge on Thursday morning at their arraignment.

In October of 2010 Stephen Conlin was arrested by Winona County deputies for possession of 17 pounds, or $85,000 of high grade marijuana, two handguns and four long guns, all this while Conlin was running for St. Charles City Council.

Voters in St. Charles were stunned when the raid on his home and barber shop business came just days before the 2010 election.

Conlin did not win a seat on the city council.

ST. CHARLES, Minn. (KTTC) -- Members of the Southeast Minnesota Task Force moved in to arrest two people in an apparent drug raid Wednesday afternoon, and one of them is a familiar name.

In October of 2010 Stephen Conlin was arrested by Winona County deputies for possession of 17 pounds, or 85,000 dollars of high grade marijuana, two handguns and four long guns,  all this while Conlin was running for St. Charles City Council.

Voters in St. Charles were stunned when the raid on his home and barber shop business came just days before the election.

And Wednesday afternoon, it happened again.

With a search warrant, officers with the Southeast Minnesota Task Force broke through the front door of the building said to be the future location of Conlin's new barber shop at 943 Wabasha Avenue.

Authorities seized what they call a large amount of marijuana plus $600 inside the building.

Winona County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Ron Ganrude says Conlin was hauled away, along with a man named Ted Wilkenmeyer.

The two were arrested for 5th degree substance crimes and obstructing with force.
