Bangor will discuss temporary fix for mail

Posted:

Bangor, WI (WXOW) - A special meeting in Bangor Monday, January 30, will discuss a temporary location for post office boxes.

The post office closed two weeks ago because of water damage which led to mold in the building.

The U.S. Postal Service says the building needs more than $50,000 in repairs.

The landlord isn't expected to make a decision about those repairs for at least four months.

Most Bangor residents receive home mail delivery but it's an inconvenience for those who have P.O. boxes which are now located in West Salem.

Bangor Village President Greg Peterson says the town needs to find a temporary solution so box holders can retrieve their mail within a quarter mile of the closed post office.

Peterson says they are looking at a number of possible locations including the Village Hall and the First Responder building.

A decision is expected Monday night.
