La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - A court appearance for an Onalaska man accused of a series of garage break-ins and vehicle thefts in that town.

Last month, Onalaska Police say 28-year-old Nicholas Marcum of Onalaska, confessed to 20 burglaries and six separate thefts.

When police searched his residence, they found numerous items reported as stolen.

He was caught when investigators, using an online tip system, were led to a local pawn store where Marcum's girlfriend tried to pawn one of the stolen items.

Marcum now faces a total of 48 felonies and misdemeanors in connection with those crimes.

Friday in court, Marcum stood mute to the charges.

The court entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Marcum remains in jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
