WINONA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- The city of Winona is preparing to take its fight with an invasive species to the next level.
According to the Winona Daily News, a proposal will be made to the Winona City Council Monday to use chemicals to protect about 4,000 ash trees from the emerald ash borer.
The new method to fight off the insects would be expensive, with a $140,000 price tag.
That money would go toward chemically protecting about half of the 8,000 ash trees in Winona.
The rest of the trees would be cut down, and replaced with other kinds.
Stingless wasps have also been used to fight the invasive species in Winona County.
