BANGOR, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Paying it forward.

That's the philosophy Deb Gerke lives by.  She and her sister Pam Olson are teachers.

Along with a passion for education, the two now share November's Jefferson Award.

The Jefferson Award honors community and public service.

Gerke's philosophy summarizes the award's primary purpose-to serve as a call to action for volunteers.
