WEST SALEM, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A load of garbage ignited a fire after it was loaded into a truck Thursday morning in West Salem.
The call went out shortly after 7am.
Authorities say that a garbage receptacle outside of Beyer Cabinets was being loaded into a Waste Management truck when the fire broke out.
Once the fire department arrived, the driver of the truck emptied the load into the parking lot.
Assistant Fire Chief Dave McClintock said that because it was a unique fire that contained a number of flammable items, they took extra precautions. In the end, firefighters put out the blaze.
Another Waste Management truck was brought in to remove the water soaked garbage.
