Man brought back to life after 60 minutes without pulse

RACINE, Minn. (KTTC) -- A 56-year-old man from the Racine area was brought back to life 60 minutes after losing a pulse Sunday afternoon.

When the man had a heart attack about 3 p.m., his wife called 911 and began CPR.

Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May says first responders included Deputy Dave Pike, who took over with chest compressions and a portable defibrillator.

Stewartville firefighters and paramedics from Grand Meadow Ambulance also arrived on scene and helped set up a landing zone for Mayo One.

May says the Mayo One team shocked the man twice more and were able to restore a pulse an hour after the heart attack.  He was flown to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, and a Mayo Clinic spokesperson says he's in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.
