Galesville, WISCONSIN (WXOW) - The northern reaches of Norway aren't exactly known as basketball country, but by the light of the midnight sun, one Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau foreign exchange student has honed his skills and is using them to give the Redhawk boys basketball team a shot at a title.
Marcus Wynn is averaging more than 5 points per game making him the 5th leading scorer on head coach Mark Wagner's squad. What's really remarkable is that Wynn only began playing basketball seven years ago. That's less time than many of his teammates have been playing together.
"Coming in and invading a team, you can't just do that," said Wynn. "You've got to have a certain respect of things. At first, it was kind of tough because I felt like I wasn't really welcome, but as the games went on and we got to know each other better, I thought we built a bond, a relationship."
Coach Wagner also said in addition to being a valuable player, Wynn has helped give his team a broader perspective on basketball.
