La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) Cory Degner scored 17 points and fellow senior Al Chery had 12, including a thunderous dunk, to lead the Eagles to a 74-66 win over 19th-ranked UW-River Falls Wednesday at Mitchell Hall.
UW-La Crosse jumped out to a 9-0 lead only to see the Falcons come back and take a 28-21 lead at the half.
The Eagles failed to score a point over the final 9:13 of the first half.
But then the Eagles caught fire, going on a 16-6 run to take the lead.
The win gave the Eagles a 7-8 record in conference play and they currently hold down the 6th and final spot for the WIAC Tournament with one more game to go.
UW-L is at UW-Superior this Saturday.
