Know Your Police Officers

Posted:

La Crosse, Wisconsin (WXOW) - La Crosse police are using relatively new technology to display an old idea. In the 1950's the La Crosse Tribune ran a series called "Know Your Police Officers." They featured a police officer each week, providing a picture and biography.

Now, police are providing a Facebook version of "Get to Know Your Officers."

Captain Jason Melby of the La Crosse Police Department had this to say, "We've brought many new officers into the community and they may not be overly familiar with the community and some of these people may not have seen these officers before. So this is kind of a good ice breaker, too, for some of our new officers."

With more than 100 employees and turnover from retirement, they expect it will take more than two years to cycle through the list.
