Support Pours in For Abused, Dane Co. Girl

DANE COUNTY, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Well wishes continue to pour in for the Dane County teenager police said was abused and nearly starved to death by her own family.

The girl was found last week while walking outside barefoot and wearing pajamas.

She was picked by a stranger.

The girl has since told police that her father, stepmother and stepbrother kept her locked in the basement for more than five years.

She said she was seldom allowed to eat, and weighed just 70 pounds when she was found.  

Christ the King Parish, located blocks from where the girl lived, has added her to its prayer chain.

A spokesperson for Dane County Human Services said it has received inquiries about people wanting to write to the girl.
