Hoax bomb threat disrupts Green Bay airport

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) -- The Austin Straubel International Airport was evacuated for about an hour and operations were disrupted for even longer while authorities investigated a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax.

Airport director Tom Miller says the FBI and Brown County Sheriff's Department are trying to figure out who made the threat.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that someone used a cell phone to call 911 shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday to say a bomb would go off at the airport at 7 p.m.

Officials from several agencies began investigating.

By 6:30 p.m. the airport was closed and evacuated. No outbound flights were scheduled at that time, but United Airlines canceled an inbound flight from Chicago that was to arrive at 7:05 p.m. The airport reopened at 7:30 p.m.
