Wisconsin officials are ready for election

MADISON (WXOW) – Wisconsin municipal and county clerks said they are ready for the state's new voter ID law which starts on Tuesday during the spring primary election.

The turnout is expected to be even lower than previous years because there is no state wide election on the ballot this year.

Officials said the election will be a good dry run for the presidential primary on April 3 just in case there is confusion with the voter ID law and new boundaries for local races.

About 522 municipalities will hold elections, which is less than 30 percent of all Wisconsin cities, villages and towns.

Reid Magney, Government Accountability Board spokesman, said he expects about 5 percent to 10 percent of eligible voters to show up at the polls.
