2 County Board members move on, 2 don't in primary races

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Several current members of the La Crosse County Board were on the ballot in Tuesday's primary contests.  All four were vying for the top two who will move on to the April 3rd election.

Only two did.

In District 11, Bill Brockmiller was the top votegetter.  He had double the votes of his nearest challenger, James Grenisen, 137-68.  Current District 12 Board member Bridget Flood finished with 61 votes.

Dave Holtze, the retired manager of Forest Hills Golf Course, finished in first in District 12 with 240 votes.  He'll take on political newcomer Andrew Matz, who polled 79 votes, in April.  Board member Gerald Sebranek ended the race with 47.

The closest of the three board races was in District 28.  Robert Keil, who has served on the board since 2006, edged first timer Bob Skemp 80-78.  Scott Schumacher, a member of the West Salem Village Board, had 48 votes.

Winners in the April election will become members of a reduced County Board. The number of supervisors for La Crosse County drops from 35 to 29 members following the election.

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Only a few hours remain in Tuesday's primary election.

In La Crosse County, three La Crosse County Board races are on the ballot.

The top two vote getters in the elections will move on to the April general election.  All three feature current county board members who are now in different districts with redistricting.  Those new districts take effect following the April election.

In District 11, the candidates are Bridget Flood, Bill Brockmiller, and James Grenison.  Both Flood (District 12) and Brockmiller (District 13) sit on the county board.

The District 12 contest features Dave Holtze, Andrew Matz, and current District 16 supervisor Gerald Sebranek.

Current District 19 supervisor Robert Keil takes on Bob Skemp and Scott Schumacher in the District 28 race.  That's the district held formerly by State Representative Steve Doyle.

Redistricting has reduced the number of county board seats from 35 to 29 members.  Because of this move, your voting district and polling location may have changed.

Changes in Wisconsin's voting law also means that voters will be asked for a photo ID when they come to the polls.
