MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin's election officials are warning voters to look out for unofficial registration forms that have been sent to many residents by mail.
The state's chief election officer Kevin Kennedy, from the Government Accountability Board, says it is legal for groups, including political parties, to distribute voter registration forms, but people don't need them to be able to vote.
You can contact your municipal clerk directly to request an application, or you can download forms from the G.A.B. website and mail them in to your local clerk.
The G.A.B. has seen unofficial voter registration forms circulating that contain errors, including an incorrect address for the G.A.B. office. They're coming from the Voter Participation Center.
The G.A.B. encourages voters to visit their website for accurate information about voting.
You can also visit the Voter Public Access site for polling place locations.
