Domestic violence legislation passes committees

MADISON (WKOW) -- There is some legislation working its way through the capitol to help domestic violence victims in Wisconsin.

The Tra Ja Act has been passed in the Assembly and Senate committees.

It now goes to the floor for a vote.

The bill was proposed by Lisa Blanchard. It is named after her sister, Tracy Judd, and her niece, Deija. They were killed by Tracy's boyfriend in 2009.

The goal of the bill would make a third domestic abuse charge a felony.
