Woman's death investigated as a homicide

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - La Crosse Police are investigating a woman's death as a homicide.

Wednesday morning, Chief Ed Kondracki announced they are investigating the death of 35-year-old Kristen Rodgers as a possible drug related homicide.  Chief Kondracki stated that early information indicates this is an isolated incident.

Rodgers' body was found in a northside parking lot in the area of 1100 Caledonia Street Tuesday morning around 7am.

An autopsy was done on Rodgers by the Dane County Medical Examiner.  However, while investigators know the cause of death, they aren't releasing specifics since it's an ongoing investigation.  A release from the department says the death was not accidental. 

The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation was called in by LCPD to assist in the case.

While records weren't immediately available, Kondracki says the department has had past contact with Rodgers.

As the investigation continues, LCPD is asking for the public's help.  Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kristen Rodgers on Monday night or early Tuesday morning is asked to contact the La Crosse Police Department at 608-785-5962 or Crime Stoppers at 784-TIPS.

At the news conference, Kondracki says the cause of the 35-year-old La Crosse woman's death is known, but won't be released because the investigation is ongoing.

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - La Crosse Police plan an 11am news conference regarding the death investigation that began Tuesday when a woman's body was found in a northside parking lot.

Responding to a call, officers discovered the body of a woman Tuesday morning.  According to what LCPD released, there was no obvious signs of trauma visible on the person.

Police have not yet identified the victim.

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - La Crosse Police are conducting a death investigation after a woman was found dead in a northside parking lot Tuesday morning.

Officers were sent to the parking lot for an initial call of a welfare check.  When they arrived, they found the body of a middle aged white female laying on the ground.

According to a LCPD spokesperson, there was no indication of why the woman died and no signs of trauma to the body.

The woman's identity is still being determined.

An autopsy is pending according to the spokesperson.

Police say at this point, there is no indication for the public to be concerned for their safety in regards to this incident.
