4 Wis. anglers on US ice fishing championship team

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) - Four Wisconsin residents will compete in the world ice fishing championships.

Altogether 10 anglers earned a spot Sunday on the U.S. ice fishing team that will compete at the 2013 World Ice Fishing Championships. Two are from Minnesota, three from Michigan and one from Illinois.

Three days of fishing on the Eau Pleine Reservoir west of Mosinee whittled a field of 30 anglers from seven states. The anglers fought some atypical ice fishing conditions, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. There was also a brisk wind and several inches of standing water on the ice.

The Wausau Daily Herald reports the 2013 world championships likely will be held next February on the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir, but the date and location of the tournament have not been finalized.
