WEST SALEM, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Seventh and eighth graders at Coulee Christian School in West Salem collected donations April 12 to send to our troops.
Operation Homefront officials teamed up with the students starting at 8 am until 4 pm. Students took turns standing along the curb and collecting donations from community members, many of whom were veterans themselves.
People donated a variety of items, including money, toiletries...even an entire store's stock of beef jerky.
The goal of the event was to teach the children about giving back to the community.
The donations will be sent to the troops as care packages on Wednesday, May 16th.
